Previewed at the New York Auto Show last spring, the new 2015 Volvo V60 Sportwagon is set to join the automaker's U.S. lineup in January. Sharing all of its platform architecture with the automaker's best-selling S60 Sedan, this even more accommodating variation on the theme will offer a choice of three different turbocharged engines, including Volvo's new Drive-E gasoline-fired 2.0-liter/4-cylinder that makes 240 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It will be offered exclusively in the entry level V60 T5 2.0 (as well as in its 2015 S60 counterpart). While final EPA numbers are still pending, Volvo expects this front-drive-only Sportwagon model to deliver best-in-class fuel economy.

Buyer's who require more power or desire the added security of standard all-wheel drive can opt for either of two other V60 variants, which also share existing engines with the 2014 Volvo S60 Sedan that are virtually certain to carry over for 2015. The V60 T5 2.5 will pack a T-charged 2.5-liter/inline-5 that turns out 250 horses and 266 lb-ft of twist while the range-topping V60 T6 3.0 R-Design -- which will be the fastest and most powerful wagon in Volvo history -- gets a force-fed 3.0-liter/inline-6 that cranks out 325 ponies and 354 lb-ft of torque.

Pricing and additional details on the 2015 Volvo V60 Sportwagon will be released closer to its on-sale date.
