Set to officially debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show next month, little is now known of the Q30. Going against cars like the Audi A3 and the BMW 1 Series, Infiniti is likely to offer a powerful, yet fuel-efficient four under the hood. And perhaps even a hybrid down the road.
“Q30 Concept embodies Infiniti’s vision to deliver head-turning design, innovative materials with precise fit and finish and passionate craftsmanship, while provoking a radical shift in the premium compact segment,” Infiniti brags in its press release. Aside from the alienating color, we’re not so sure the Q30 is a radical shift.
The new CLA and GLA compact offerings from Mercedes-Benz represent a radical shift with premium lines, power, and materials typically saved for only the highest-end cars. We’ll agree Infiniti has, with the Q30, added some much-needed definition to its woefully round-y lines of late. Aside from that, though, it looks like any other entry-level luxury hatch – one that probably won’t sell that well.
All of this, of course, is only my own wild speculation for the most part. We’ll know more about the Q30 concept on September 10th. So be sure to check back for that and all of our Frankfurt Auto Show coverage.
